George Clooney popped up in my insta feed this week with the little snippet of wisdom that:
“You don't truly learn from success; it merely signifies excellence in your endeavors. The real lessons emerge from failure – how you navigate it and the wisdom you glean from disappointment.”1
And it makes me reflect that disappointments are something we rarely discuss, even amongst friends and peers. A “disappointment” is somehow not big enough to give much empathy to, but is equally uncomfortable enough not to share overmuch socially. Disappointment indicates micro-failure, which is inexplicably almost more shameful than a really big Failure.
I experienced a couple of quite big disappointments this past week. Although I hadn’t put all my eggs into the solitary basket of DYCP arts council funding, I was also really calling it in energetically - and it didn’t happen. This was more than expected - it was my first time applying, I have an extreme allergy to the bureaucratic simpering required by rote for government funding applications, and I wrote it largely from the heart (because that’s the only way I could ever complete it). Finally, only a quarter of applications at most are successful.
My big vision, which won’t leave me alone now (however challenging and daunting it may be) is to create room-size immersive energy landscapes with my work. I can see it, and even feel the finished installations. I know exactly the kind of experience I want to create, but getting there is going to take a whole lot more teeny-tiny steps than I’d hoped!
It’s frustrating as a relatively new artist trying to break into the public arts field whilst also attempting to do so in a soul-led, heart-fuelled way. The arts sector, like all other modern systems, is pretty much run along the same lines of patriarchy and nepotism. And breaking this down is a huge undertaking…
Alongside applying to various competitions, joining in artist-led challenges and awards (thanks to everyone who voted for me for the Cass Art Creative Spaces Award btw - I was blown away by your support! I also didn’t win that sadly!) and searching opportunities rigorously, I’m determined to begin exploring the creation of these big landscapes.
And that’s where I have a favour to ask!
Make me a beautiful offer 😍
As a minimum, I need to invest in some large canvas rolls and some paint to begin exploring these potential installation pieces, and getting to play with their effects and layouts. To help me achieve this, I’ve decided to open up my studio for a one-time “pay what you want” sale!
That’s right - If you’ve had your eye on something but it’s felt a little out of reach financially, this is your chance to make me a beautiful offer 😍🎉🥳.
As always, instalments are available on all my paintings, so you can also spread the cost!
How it works
Take a browse through my painting catalogue (I have pieces of all sizes, orientations & energies to suit your sacred space!)
Choose something magnetic and follow the call!
Sit and feel into a heart-happy price and email me with your beautiful offer!
I’m so excited to see where this goes! It’s New Earth heart-led exchanges 😍
And if a painting is not quite on the cards for you just yet, you can also support me through treating yourself to:
My gorgeous, immersive book filled with art, poetry & energy transmutations, It’s Written in the Stars (paperback).
The must-read collaborative books Wake up Mother: Stories and wisdom shared by mothers, and Shakti Farts and Belly Laughs: What really happens when wild women gather.
A box of Energy Art Love Cards (choose from Cosmos 🎇 or Way of the Rose 🌹 designs) to send to your friends and fam!
I also have some A2 paper sketches for sale - they’re not on the website but I’m more than happy to share some pics if you’re interested.
Thanks ever so much for your ongoing support in all its forms! 😍💗🎇🎉🙏
